Congrats! This will be the first one I've missed in 36 years, though the only slightly related thing I plan on doing is watching "Jesus Christ Superstar" on Netflix.

The FIRST Memorial Ive missed in 41 years
by Londo111 inlast year, my last jw memorial, i listened to the talk as an outsider would.
the speaker strung unrelated texts together and for the first time, i saw that the interpretations made no sense.
afterward, i had a private memorial with homemade unleavened bread and wine with four people--three of whom partook.

How do you think the Memorial should be celebrated? How are you going to spend it?
by MsGrowingGirl20 infor the first time, i realize that many people have different views about this.. some people believe that all should partake, others don't believe that there should be a memorial.. some are going to the hall, others are having their own celebrations still others are just going to be doing normal activities.. how do you think the memorial should be celebrated?
how are you going to spend it?.

First time not going... but on Tuesdays, kids eat free at Denny's, so we'll probably grab a cheap meal before going home. Oh, and Bioshock Infinite is released that day, so I know what I'll be doing the rest of the night.

For those claiming to be Christ: you are not! I am
by AndDontCallMeShirley infor those claiming to be the biblical christ-messiah, you are wrong.
i am the christ!
and, i can prove it.. ----.

Someone should arrange a Jesus Tournament, where all the professed Christ's could compete in a bracketed structure until we have our one, true Messiah on top, who would be given an oversized golden halo which he would have to defend in subsequent tourneys.

We watched the second part so far; I kind of like it, as far as action epics go. At least it's brutally honest about the level of cruelty "God's people" were part of, like when the spies go in and skillfully kill a bunch of guards at Jehrico before holding a knife to Rahab's family to get her to hide them. It doesn't try to glorify the Isrealite's killing, but just shows that killing was part of their everyday life, like it was for many people back then.

" Are [you] suggesting that only " rednecks and idiot teenagers" waste all of their time on this stuff, and they couldn't contribute anything useful even if they actually applied themselves?"
Yes, for the most part. My wife has plenty of skills and areas she can contribute to society, but science sure isn't one of them. Suggesting that those who already self-selected out of scientific pursuits in favor of mindless entertainment are somehow the ones who are holding scientific progress back is just a little disingenuous.
Mostly, though, I just thought the image of people turning off "Honey Boo-Boo" to apply for jobs at NASA was funny.

tootired2care, did you really just suggest that lazy rednecks and idiot teenagers (and others who only watch trash TV and FaceBook all day) should be working on our science and space programs? That sounds like a terrible idea.

New May Awake! Am I being unreasonable or does this sound crazy!?
by toweragent inmy friends usually walked me home after dark.
but one evening i was so tired that i decided to call a taxi.
the driver didnt take me home.

It's not really a flip-flop though; you have to read between the lines:
Awake! 84, Jun 8p. 28 - If raped, not guilty of fornication: “For the victim to be considered guilty of fornication, there would need to be proof of willing consent.”
In WT speak, not screaming IS proof of willing consent. Most of those "not guilty" quotes above don't really change their stance, they're just dodging it with their wording.

@darth frosty, there's one song in there that will make any dub's ears bleed... It starts off with a "Hakuna Matata" like beat, until they explain what the catchy little phrase actually means (hint: it's totally blasphemous).

Martial Arts?
by Godsendconspirator ini have always had a love for martial arts (didn't know how to fight, just admire what the human body can do), but since jdub-land banned it, i just kinda forgot about it.
i admire nate quarry (an 'apostate' mma fighter) and i have been boxing for a year now.
i decided to switch over to muay thai.

I would have been all over this if I'd gotten out when I was younger. As it is, I tried taking Judo last year (thinking it was the lowest impact) and only went a couple months before joint pain and sprains caught up with me.
